SHUBHAM AGARWAL
1.
green bottles
radiate in warm sunlight
words written
the night before
rise up and float
death shrouded
in a puff of smoke
the fingers
crisscross her body
with lines imaginary
head
filled with whiteness
the spilled wine
gathers around the foot
what takes over the self
in moments
of sustained desire
barely recognisable
hollowing bones
a beam of li
ght
or a metaphor
2.
the unwilling
legs
bend obtusely
incandescent light
fawns at the slightest
of movement
a sinkhole begs
for the
unperturbed stillness
the quest
to ascertain the point
that completes the circle
ends obliquely
words, form and die
her body
wrapped in this murderous
afternoon
shoulders, bare
reflect
the gleeful incoherence
of dispossession
3.
the spell of sleep
breaks and
it begins to sink
the clock ticks
and the dreadful sequence
drags along
the long walk
to the executioner
a lump of greasy substance
travels from gut to teeth
rats
eat the flesh unwholesomely
and the half chewed
morsels
look benign
end, no longer an end
sight, unflinchingly green
and a mirror broken
innocuously
footsteps
on knife’s edge
wide awake
4.
the ring
stays on the finger
and her golden outline
outshines
hesitant lips
spill over the evening
in this vast landscape
of madness
they all instigate him
to be madder
he succumbs
to the invincibility of
this draped sky
filled with despair
the movement of legs
lost in the apathetic
existence
the blackened shadows
grow
unapologetically
an unhinged murmur
of bats
chattering
5.
the smile fades
and the cry
drowns in the sea of
laughter
the self defeating
attempt
to carve a soaked wood
colours, wet and flowing
crash into each other
the enigma
moving on the edges
of a rectangle
dissolves
the space between
thought and sound
expands
eyes blemished with
charcoal
the parapet
coloured in dusk
the estranged portrait
hangs on the wall
unmoved
